‘Mohair Crush’ is a light and airy vest, worked top-down in stockinette stitch with six strands of mohair held together - creating a soft, luxurious fabric. The vest has a slightly oversized fit, making it both comfortable and stylish. It is beginner-friendly and quick to knit on US 15 (10 mm) needles.
The vest can be knitted in a marled effect by combining three different colors (two strands of each), which gives a lively, unique look. It can also be knitted in a single solid color for a more classic style, or in scraps of mohair to create your own playful version. The design is versatile and fun – wear it as a top on bare skin, or layer it over a shirt or blouse as a vest. The pattern contains 5 different sizes - Guiding measurements are listed below. Sizes: A (B) C
Gauge: 10 sts / 14 rows in stockinette stitch = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm) after washing/blocking.
Suggested Needles: US 15 (10 mm) circular needle, 32 in (80 cm) for the stockinette body US 10.75 (7 mm) circular needle, 24 in (60 cm) for i-cord edging at neckline, armholes, and hem.
Skill Level: Beginner – Advanced Beginner
Other Materials: 4 stitch markers and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Yarn Suggestions: The entire vest is worked with 6 strands of mohair held together. If knitted with a marled effect of 2 x 3 mixed strands, you will need:
Color A: 50 (75) 75 (100) 100g (2 strands) of Silk Kid Mohair 25 g / 210 m from Hjertegarn together with
Color B: 50 (75) 75 (100) 100 g (2 strands) of Silk Kid Mohair 25 g / 210 m from Hjertegarn together with
Color C: 50 (75) 75 (100) 100 g (2 strands) of Silk Kid Mohair 25 g / 210 m from Hjertegarn
If knitted in one solid color, you will need: 150 (175) 200 - 225 (275) 300 g of Silk Kid Mohair 25 g / 210 m from Hjertegarn
If knitted with scrap yarn, you will need: Approx. 135 (170) 200 (255) 290 g of assorted mohair.
