The 'Moss Shopper' is knitted from the bottom up, beginning with a sturdy leather base. Stitches are cast on using double yarn, threaded directly through the pre-punched holes in the leather base and onto the circular needle. The body of the bag is worked in dense moss stitch, giving it structure, durability, and a beautifully textured surface. Finally, the long leather straps are mounted directly through the tightly knitted fabric, resulting in a clean, elegant finish — without any visible holes or metal hardware. The bag is designed to be worn crossbody and is both spacious and hardwearing.

Pattern Details:
Size: One Size
Measurements: Height: 30 cm / 12 in · Width: 45 cm / 17¾ in (measured at the widest point). Since the bag is worked from the bottom up, the height can be adjusted as you go.
Gauge: 10 stitches x 19 rows in moss stitch on 8 mm (US 11) needles = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) with yarn held double.
Needles: 8 mm (US 11) circular needle, 100 cm (40 in) for casting on and setting up the moss stitch, Optional: 8 mm (US 11) circular needle, 80 cm (32 in) for working the main body.
Yarn Suggestion: 400 g Natur Uld by Hjertegarn (100 g = 100 m / 109 yds). The moss stitch body is worked with two strands held together (Note: When setting up for the moss stitch, use two separate strands — not held together).
Skill Level: Beginner.
Other Tools: Wool needle for casting on · 1 stitch marker to indicate beginning of round.
